Year of the Horse | Cotton Twill Barn Jacket

For the lunar Year of the Horse, we knew we had design something extra special to celebrate.

Shane Yu (our chief of Brand Creative), guest designed this gorgeous barn jacket. Inspired by the brave journey of folks who had come out west from far lands out east, this utilitarian design is adorned with hand-drawn chainstitch embroidery.

A traditional art form that decorated Western apparel long before the advent of digital embroidery, this beautiful technique is more akin to painting on fabric. We collaborated with Sadie Gilker of Night Horse, whose studio is just a stone's throw away from our own in Chinatown, Vancouver, to bring  Shane's design to life. With a crimson dancing horse on the front chest, and a large horseshoe embroidery across the back (with eight nail holes - for extra good luck), the handmade nature of the embroidery glows, making this a head-turning heirloom piece. 

Not to be outshone by the embroidery, the jacket itself is sewn from a comfortable and durable stretch cotton twill. Accented with a taupe corduroy collar and sleeve tabs, this relaxed fit jacket is perfect for layering. Double-lined pockets provide secure storage as well as a comfortable resting place for your hands. Whether you're rocking this jacket at the barn or out on the town, it's sure to bring a little special Year of the Horse energy with you.

98% cotton, 2% spandex

Machine wash cold, delicate cycle, hang to dry. 

Size chart -  Fits true to size for relaxed fit. Size down for a more fitted look.
